Chapter 'R' signed a Charter with the Gold Wing Road Rider's Association (GWRRA) on September 30, 1989 with 38 charter members. Our chapter serves the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and is part of the Texas District and the South Central Region (H). Today we are over 340 members strong and growing.
Known as the D*FW Rally Cats, we really live up to our name. We participate in as many rallies as we can each year, locally, regionally and nationally. We truly enjoy the competitive rivalries with other chapters at these rallies. We compete in bike shows, newsletter, scrapbook, banner, mascot, T-shirt, dress, best dressed couple, comedy, Couple of the Year and Web Page competitions. We also participate in the off-bike and on-bike games along with the Top Gunn competitions. In fact, at the Top Gunn competition at Wing Ding XX, Chapter R brought home 3 first place trophies and one of them a first ever, perfect score. At Wing Ding XXI, Chapter R brought home 2 more for Top Gun, 3 for on bike games, and 3 for the bike show. Our mascot, Ral E. Cat, has also won many trophy’s including Best Mascot at the 2009 Wing Ding in Tulsa.
We are very involved in the Riders Education Safety Program with 29 Level 4 or above that are currently active. Chapter R Educators were nominated as Chapter Educator of the year for 1996, 1997, 2005, and 2006. In 2000, we were awarded the Riders Ed "Best Chapter" award at the District Staff Meeting. Chapter R maintains CPR/First Aid training annually to keep us up to par on our preparedness. We also schedule ERC courses throughout the year.
We are very civic oriented and have had 18 GWRRA Toys Runs for the underprivileged children in the D/FW Metroplex area. Over the past 18 years we have provided Christmas for 1000’s of children who might not otherwise get a Christmas.
We host an annual Chapter Rally, and always pack em’ in!
We hope to see you on a ride with us some day and if you ever hear the RRRRRRRRR in the wind, you will know it’s just the Rally Cats out on another ride!
